The Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) is a non-profit research and training institution built on the concept of a public-private partnership (ppp). It was first incorporated under The Societies Registration Act, 1860 in June 2003 and subsequently, it was incorporated in September 18, 2006 under the Company’s Act (Act xviii) of 1994. It is managed by a 14-member high level Board of Directors representing both the Government and the private sector with the Hon’ble Commerce Minister as the chairman . The European Union (EU) is currently assisting the BFTI with the start-up costs and technical assistance to set it up within a short-time as the premier foreign trade institute of the country. |

In order to attain the vision and mission, the BFTI is working toward trade capacity building through high quality research on international trade and development issues. It provides appropriate advice on trade-related policies to the stakeholders. It conducts both specialized and general training on trade and business issues for officials of the government and the private sector. The BFTI provides a congenial platform for the government and private sector leaders to communicate interact and arrive at sustainable solutions of economic problems. |
